Not all the restaurants are going to be in central Ohio. For my 70th birthday, Audrey took me on a trip to NYC and we stayed in Brooklyn. My niece, Elyssa, recommended this diner which she described as really popular - there is a long line on weekends.
Fortunately for us, we went on a Friday morning and there was no line and plenty of tables. The restaurants decor is eclectic with stained glass windows framed by red tinsel, an American flag, many framed restaurants reviews. It was very comfortable.
At the waiter's recommendation Audrey ordered Lemon Ricotta pancakes and they turned out to be delicious -
light, lemony and fluffy. She never would have ordered them without the
suggestion and was glad she did.I had a cheese omelet and hash browns The hash browns were very peppery and I tasted mostly American cheese in the omelot. It was good.
We had a wonderful conversation about our plans for the day. Elyssa told us that the Botanical Gardens were only 3 blocks away and free on Fridays. We planned that in the morning and that afternoon we went to the NBC tour at Rockefeller Center. It was a great way to start a very full day.
A reflection on the gift of dining out with friends for the first meal of the day.
